Kinvara Rock and Road Half Marathon and 10K, 3rd March 2012
The Kinvara Rock and Road Half Marathon and 10K Road Race takes place on Saturday 3rd March 2012 in Kinvara, Co. Galway. This will be the second running of the event so join us in this beautiful seaside village for what promises to be a great event for walkers, joggers and runners of all levels.
The course will take you past some glorious scenery and is quite flat, which will appeal to beginners who are taking on a new distance and more experienced runners looking to post a competitive time for a 10k or half-marathon distance. This will also be a great event for anyone training for other longer races later in the year.
The 2010 event took place on 5th March and we had over 500 people registered for the event.
Mondello Park Run, 2012, Naas, Co. Kildare
In 2012 we are taking it to the track! With our partners Athletics Ireland we are putting on two race distances (to be confimred) around the famous track at Mondello Park.
Mondello Park is more used to hosting motorcycle and car events but we are shaking things up and giving runners the opportunity to burn some rubber over two race distances.
This event is open to runners of all levels so regardless of whether you are an elite runner or if you have never run 5k before we want to see you on the start line in August.
This promises to be something a little bit different!
Mountain Bike Challenge, 21st & 22nd April 2012, Killaloe, Co. Clare
Over 100 riders took to the hills and forests of Lough Derg to take part in the 2011 Mountain Bike Challenge and registration for 2012 is open now. The event, the first of its kind in Ireland, hosted four stages of riding held over two days. Riding talent came from North and South of Ireland as well as from Denmark, England and the US.
The Mountain Bike Challenge - Lough Derg 2012 is a chance to explore and enjoy some of the finest off-road trails around Lough Derg in Co. Clare. With kind permission from Coillte and several land owners, The East Clare Way and Lough Derg Ways, we have access to some of the country's most stunning views through areas and tracks that are not generally available to Mountain Biking in Ireland. The first 100 entries for 2012 will go into a draw to win a single speed worth over €600...
Tri the Burren Sprint Triathlon, 9th July 2011, Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare
Ballyvaughan in Co. Clare was the setting for the second running of the 'Tri the Burren' Sprint Triathlon on Saturday 9th of July 2011.
We had 177 people over the start line in glorious sunny conditions. Tri the Burren is a challenging event and takes advantage of the magnificent terrain around Ballyvaughan. Ballyvaughan is a small harbour village located in the northwest corner of the Burren region and provides a stunning backdrop for this unique event.
The race began with a 750m swim in Ballyvaughan Bay. Then a 24km cycle took in the famous Corkscrew Hill through the rugged Burren landscape before the descent back into the village. The 5km run was an out and back course that followed the coast road to Fanore.
The Caveman, Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare, 15th & 16th October 2011
We headed to the Aillwee Cave in Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare in October 2011 for the first year of The Caveman. Participants ran and mountain biked on the Burren landscape around the famous caves and also got the chance to run and ride through the caves themselves.
The event will be held again next year over two days, with two running stages on Saturday and two mountain bike stages on Sunday. This is a unique event with limited entries and a great atmosphere.
If you run but don't bike or bike but don't run, don't worry, you can also just enter the Mountain Running Challenge on Saturday or the Mountain Bike Challenge on Sunday. The event is open to all, whether that's for fun, for a challenge or to win it!
The Volvo Ocean Race - Galway Stopover
From 23rd May to 6th June 2009 Galway played host to the prestigious Volvo Ocean Race in some of the best weather to hit Galway in years. The Galway stopover was a huge success for both competitors and spectators and we were the official passenger boat agents for this unique event.
Alicante, Cape Town, Kochi, Singapore, Qingdao, Rio De Janeiro, Boston, Göteborg, Stockholm and St. Petersburg were the other stopovers so we were in great company.
The sun came out to greet the boats and the huge crowds and our job was to get people out on the water to experience the thrill of the racing action out in the bay.
Due to the success of 2009, Galway has been chosen as the finish port for the 2012 staging of the event. See you there!
